Artbook Proof in Hand!
almost 10 years ago – Wed, May 18, 2016 at 12:25:38 AM

Hey guys,

We recently got the Artbook Proof copy and took this quick video showing it off:

This single copy that was sent us is awesome and all the others are right behind it.  Currently everything should be getting all wrapped up and shipped to us.  This keeps us in line with our hopes of getting the book to all of our backers by July this year.

Additionally, we took some single pics of some pages:

Let us know if you have any questions with your order.  Once we get a date that the shipment of books will get to us, we'll get everything ready to go out and turn them all around as fast as possible.  =)

Campaign status update
almost 10 years ago – Tue, Apr 19, 2016 at 08:19:17 PM

Hey all,

It's been a bit since our last update so I wanted to get in touch with you all and let you know where we are on our campaign timeline:

Blank White Copy + Color Proof Pages

We recently received the 'white copy' of the artbook and it is amazing.  The white copy is just a blank copy of the book to see the quality of the pages and the size and weight of the book.  It's huge and weighs almost 4 lbs!  If you saw Justin at ECCC this last weekend he had it on hand and everyone that was able to check it out was pretty impressed with the quality.

We also got the color proofs for Justin to look over and verify/confirm that everything is good to go before the manufacturer starts printing everything:

I'm not sure if he is verifying or confirming here.....
I'm not sure if he is verifying or confirming here.....

It took a while to sign off on everything but with the approval process finished, the manufacturer has now scheduled the printing.  The next step will be us getting an advanced copy for final approval and then we'll have the rest of the books printed and shipped to us.

The Collector's Coin

Here is a picture of the proofs we got for the sculpt of the coin:

You can see the front and the back there in the proofs and everyone will be getting one of these coins with the front and back as shown.  You can see that we placed the two proofs next to our JunKing coin from our last Kickstarter.  They will be same size and weight if you are familiar with that coin.  Additionally the coin for this campaign will be a light gold color.

Artbook PDF files - Soon

Justin has been hard at work getting the PDF ready for those that ordered it in the first reward tier or who added it on after the campaign.  We were looking to get it out and into your Kindle/iPad/whateveryouuse by the end of April and are happy to report that we will be sending these out to those specific backers that purchased it by the end of the day.

If you have any questions about anything feel free to just send me a message through Kickstarter.  =)

Surveys are out for Add-Ons and shipping information
about 10 years ago – Mon, Mar 21, 2016 at 09:38:02 PM

Hey all,

We've sent out the surveys to collect everyone's shipping information.  If you didn't receive the backerkit email, let me know in a message through Kickstarter and I'll get you your unique link.

I made a small mistake in the first hour or so of the Survey being live and the Add-Ons were not showing correctly.  If you jumped in early and saw that the Add-Ons were missing, go in again now and you should see that everything is all set.

Note that the REALLY important part of this process is getting your address correct in the system so that we can send everything to you once we get it from the printers so make sure that everything there is correct before hitting submit.  If anything changes, or you have any issues with the Backerkit system, just message me and we'll take care of it as soon as possible.  =)

Looking forward to getting Justin's Artbook in hand and getting it to all of you!!

Thank you all for your support.

Justin Hillgrove Artbook - Progress Update
about 10 years ago – Wed, Mar 16, 2016 at 10:49:35 PM

Hey all,

Files have been uploaded to pre-production and have already been checked for any issues. With that done, they are now being forwarded to the factory where the books will be produced.

The factory will spend some time doing whatever magic it is they do to get ready for printing, and then they’ll create and send us some hard copy proofs that should show up around the 2nd week of April. The proofs will consist of a test sheet (a “patch proof” which contains select images from the book used to see how the colors will look in the finished books) and a “white dummy” (a blank, unprinted copy of the book that shows binding, size, paperweight, etc.). If there are any more changes to be made then that is the last chance to make them. If the proofs look good, then we sign them and send them back. Once the factory receives the approved proofs back in hand, the book printing will begin!

Backerkit

We will send out a BackerKit survey soon to collect the final address and addons information.

We will give you a heads-up before we send the survey so that you can watch for it. You will not need to create a BackerKit account to answer your survey. The invitation email will contain a link to your personal survey. It is important to submit your responses as quickly as you can since we need this information to process your rewards.

If you need to change your survey responses, add or remove add-ons, or update your shipping information, you can click on the link in your survey email again or request your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page. (This page will only start working after we send the surveys out.)

If you prefer, you can just message me and give me your information, but answering your survey will help us get your rewards out to you quicker. BackerKit helps us save lots of time by streamlining the survey process, automating data organization, and providing us with pledge management software to make it easy to process your pledge reward shipments.

If you used Facebook to log into your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey link will be sent to the email you used for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you'd prefer to use, please message me.

Again, thanks for all your support.  =)

End of Campaign - A Note from Justin Hillgrove and Next Steps
about 10 years ago – Sun, Mar 06, 2016 at 01:42:08 PM

Hey all,

From Justin:

Thank you everyone. I feel humbled and blessed to have received such an incredible amount of support from you all. This book represents such a huge piece of my self and my life, and I’ve poured so much time and energy into it, so all your sharing, encouragement and support have really kept me going and made this book so much better. My deepest thanks.

So what’s next? Dave will fill you in on the Kickstarter side of things, but here is where I am at on the book production side. The book is all laid out and is in the final stages of proof reading and edits. I’m really happy with how the book flows and I know you guys will love it! I also have a few color adjustments to make to the images as well and then it’ll be off to the printer for all the pre-press magic. Pre-press, printing, binding and shipping (to me) does take a fare amount of time but I promise we’ll keep everyone in the loop. And now the campaign is over, but my work is not - So I’ll get back to it! Thanks again!

What's Next?

Since the Campaign closed, Kickstarter will now start to try to charge the cards that you have with Kickstarter.  This part of the process should take about 2 weeks.

Then about 3 weeks from now we will have backerkit all set up and we will send you a survey to lock down your address and select any Add-Ons you would like with your pledge.  We'll do a bunch of reminder emails as needed through backerkit, and once we get the Artbooks in hand we'll be able to send them out.

We'll be using Kickstarter updates to let you all know where we are as we move from phase to phase through the process.  For any of you that also backed our JunKing game on Kickstarter you'll know that we are very communicative during this part of the process, you'll know what we know.  So, feel free to message us through kickstarter with any questions you may have and we'll get back to you right away.  =)

Thank you all, it was a great campaign!
